Modifiers form a set of rules based on which raw materials are written off from the warehouse. It is an excellent way to assemble the most complex combined product from assortment, reduce attendance time and improve service.
Combinations and additives.
Modifiers are divided into two groups and are aimed to fulfill different tasks.
For example, burrito has a number of characteristics such as: small, medium, large; with pork/chicken/lamb, tortilla can be with cheese/thick/thin/standard – these are combinations, i.e. the attributes which each burritos produced will have in any case.
Whereas additional portion of cheese/ketchup/sausage belongs to additives, i.e. optional ingredients which can be either added or not at the wish of a client.
Let us create cappuccino drink with all the necessary additives and modifiers as an example.
How to create combinations
Both types of modifiers are created in Assortment in the tab Modifier.
First of all you need to think of a modifier name and chose the type Combination.
Let us create combination Cup Volume. Then all the required fields should be filled in.
You may add as many combination variants as needed.
And even indicate which combination variant will be shown in the receipt by default, ticking Select.
Attach to each variant such ingredients as you think necessary. Specify in which amount they will be written-off in the chosen combination.
To the right of the Ingredients Actions buttons are positioned.
One can change positions order, moving the items up or down and making it easier for a cashier.
Choose at which outlets each combination variant will be sold.
Or delete the created combination variant.
After filling in the necessary fields press Save.
Example of configured combinations. 300 ml option will be printed in the receipt by default as a main variant. Ingredients for each combination will be written-off in different quantities. Volume 200 ml will be available only for one location.
The same principle is used in combinations for choosing milk.
See screenshots of the finished combination below.
How to create additives
Now, after all the necessary combinations have been created, let us create additives. Usually paid and free additives are used in a drink. We will give them the same names.
Go to the tab Modifiers in Assortment and click Create new.
Indicate the limit for an additive. If additives are optional, leave 0 in the field Min. In the Max field we indicate the maximum possible amount of additives per one unit produced. In our case, how many additional ingredients may the client buying a cappuccino have.
After that add the variants of additional ingredients in the same manner as we did for combinations using Add button. The difference is that the price can be seen for each additive.
Activated “Multiple” allows adding additional ingredient to the receipt several times. For example, when a client wants two syrups or all toppings at once.
It should be noted, that since we add additional portion of ingredients to our client’s order the total amount of the order increases.
After filling in all the details click Save button.
There are free bonuses besides paid additives, such as consumables, which need to be taken into account too. A separate modifier for paid additives should be created. Since these ingredients are already included in the finished product cost, their price is not indicated.
See the example of the finished Modifier with free additives below.
We could add a cup lid, a stirrer, cinnamon and some sugar sticks to our cappuccino free of charge. What is more, the lid and the stirrer will be included in the receipt by default, thanks to activated Select field.
After configuring all the necesary modifiers add them to the cappuccino or any other product.
