Bakeit.app is compatible practically with all major manufacturers of bank equipment: Ingenico, Verifone, PAX and with any bank. You may call our tech support e-mail support@bakeit.app to get help in connecting. We will discuss in detail all the aspects of bank terminal choice and set up further in the article.
Standalone or integrated?
There are 2 types of payment terminals: standalone and integrated.
Standalone payment terminal from any manufacturer is suitable. Standalone payment terminals are not connected with the cash register software. A cashier needs to enter the purchase sum into the terminal first, then hand the terminal to the customer for tapping the card and entering pin-code. And finally check if payment was successful. Human errors are possible at any stage of the process.
Integrated payment terminals do not have this kind of drawbacks and are much quicker in operation. When choosing the integrated solution a cashier will not have to enter the purchase amount and wait for successful payment notification – all this data is shown in Bakeit.app interface.
Which bank to choose
You do not have to open settlement account in your acquiring bank. The bank may transfer your revenue to the settlement account in any other bank.
When choosing a bank first of all you have to consider affordable fees and high-quality technical support. Because in case of payment terminal failure you will lose the clients paying by card only.
When talking with a bank specialist please mention that any payment terminal is suitable for integration by the following manufacturers: Ingenico, Verifone, PAХ.
Payment terminal model
- Ingenico payment terminals (including popular models Ingenico IPP320 and Ingenico IWL220)
- Verifone payment terminals (including popular models Verifone VX520 and Verifone VX680)
- Payment terminals by PAX (including popular models PAX SP30 and PAX S80)
It is enough to configure a terminal for integration on the bank side. Direct connection to the software can be done remotely with our technical support specialist at Bakeit.app e-mail support@bakeit.app.
We do not recommend any particular model since each bank has its own choice of solutions. The most important is to choose a manufacturer from the list and a correct connection interface.
Cash register connection interface
It is important to decide on connection interface between the payment terminal and cash register equipment. 4 variants are possible:
- Ethernet – in this case a payment terminal is connected to the Wi-Fi router with a network cable. In fact it is the best way, and if a bank provides options of connection interface we recommend this variant.
- WiFi – in this case a payment terminal is connected to the router via wifi, and should the network name be changed, connection will be lost. We consider it a less reliable solution, though it can work normally.
- Usb – in this case a payment terminal is directly connected to the cash register. If you use an ordinary tablet or an android telephone (or use them as a fallback) Usb solution cannot be used, since your device does not have ports for such equipment. If you have a specialized POS system Usb connection can be used.
- Bluetooth is the least reliable and the slowest solution. We don’t recommend using it unless absolutely necessary, e.g. when a receipt will be issued by a courier. The main problem of such a solution is slow check printing and the risk of printer requiring regular reconnection at intervals.
Adding a payment terminal to the software
Standalone terminals do not need to be added to the software.
Integrated terminals can be connected independently or with the help our tech support specialist.
If an integrated terminal is switched on and connected via a chosen interface, all you need to do is to add it to the software. To do this go to Menu – Hardware and press Add in Card terminals section.
Choose a terminal software manufacturer in the Devices list: either Ingenico or Inpas. (for Verifone and PAX).
Manual set up should be chosen if a payment terminal is connected via USB. If not, one may use automatic terminal search in the local network.
After adding the terminal you need to test how it works. To do this, check the minimum purchase amount with a bank card and see if the following card operations are possible:
- sale
- purchase cancellation
- end of shift
