All items in Assortment need to be of some type. The type defines what this item actually is: goods, service, raw material, finished product etc.
Each type has a set of characteristics which defines specifik conditions of its recording:
Goods are purchased from suppliers for further resale. They do not have specification because the goods are sold without any changes.
Raw materials are purchased from suppliers to be used later for production of goods and prodacts. This type of Assortment does not have composition, since these are unprocessed ingredients. Also one cannot set a selling price for raw materials.
Semi-finished products result from raw materials processing and need further treatment. Semi-products are also composed of raw materials, it means that Specification tab needs to be filled in. This assortment type has no retail price.
Products are produced from raw materials and semi-products. In this assortment type Specification needs to be filled in, since products have a certain composition.
A set consists of two or more goods or products. It is a complex type of assortment that is why Specification needs to be filled in for correct accounting.
An infinite number of services can be rendered, they do not have stock balance. However, while rendering services other assortment items can be written-off.
Assortment type is indicated when creating a new position and can be changed any time.
